“Berkeley Lecture Series” presents:
A talk by Dr. Hossein Ladjevardi, Founder and President of the
Association of Iranian Researchers, visiting from France.
Topic: “Building the Future of Iran is not an Obligation but our Destiny”
According to Dr. Ladjevardi:
”The turbulent dissonant situation of today’s Iran has its roots in despotic political rules. However, failure to identify clear long-term goals and objectives for the future of Iran has always resulted in us believing our short-term demands as ultimate goals:
· We believed the Shah’s departure as the ultimate solution.
· And today we see that solution in the downfall of the Islamic Republic.
Although both demands were and are motivations for bringing about change, by themselves, they are not enough:
· We have to see beyond the first step
· We need to engage each other in dialogue free from excitement, bias or prejudice; to look at today’s Iran, assess its needs, and plan for its prosperous future.
Let us not forget that we have been striving for liberty and freedom for our country for one hundred years and let us keep that in mind as the framework in which we can plan a well-founded future for our children.”
